The short answer is ….. yes! You should totally trust in your child’s appetite.
Yes …. it’s ever-changing and dependant on so many factors (like physical activity, growth, bowel movement, body’s priorities, teething, fighting off an infection, or the amount of sleep they’ve got). It seems that one day they want to eat only the pasta and the next only the meat. On some days they eat like a bird while on other days they can mow down their entire plate, ask for thirds and finish off your meal for good measure.
But one thing for sure, research shows is that kids have this amazing ability to self-regulate their food intake. Plain and simply they know instinctively what their body wants.
So while to us it may seem like their food choices is quite erratic, they actually know what they are doing.
